Faure, Poulenc and Stravinsky

Soprano: Emily Wenman
Bass: Alan Thomas
Piano/organ: Jeff Howard

Conductors: Dominic Neville and Alexander Thacker

The summer concert of 2017 was an emotional occasion as it was the last occasion upon which Dominic Neville was to conduct the society. Dom, as he was known to all choristers, had been with the society since 2007 and, in addition to the concert, his tenure was also to be marked by a special dinner that year.

Poulenc’s Gloria and Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms were given in the first half and Faure’s Requiem in the second- a favourite work of Dominic’s. The evening then concluded with a moving encore of Sure on this Shining Night by Lauridsen.

The Society was joined by Emily Wenman (soprano) and Alan Thomas (bass), while Jeffrey Howard played piano and organ.

Definitely the end of an era, but also the start of an exciting new chapter in the choir’s history.
