Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society

Founded over 80 years ago, the Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society is one of the oldest choirs and the only Cathedral-based choral society in Wales. The Society performs in the glorious setting of the Cathedral on four occasions each year and is pleased to enjoy a special relationship with one of our most historic religious buildings. Over the years and under a succession of outstanding conductors, the choir has performed virtually all of the great choral works. It has also commissioned and performed new works by Wales’ leading composers and has a thriving membership.

Upcoming Concerts

TIME - A Lyric Cantata by Iain James Veitch

World Premiere

Saturday 16th March 2024, 7pm

Llandaff Cathedral  Choral Society is proud to present the World Premiere of 'TIME', a Cantata by award-winning local composer Iain James Veitch.

We are also honoured to welcome Leeds piano competition finalist Ariel Lanyi who will play Mozart Piano Concerto no 25 in C Major.

A word from Ian James Veitch:

'For those who love, time is not' - words from the poem Time by Henry Van Dyke - that also sum up the message behind his Choral Cantata. This is one of eight movements each setting a poem - some well known, some less so -but all exploring an aspect of time and ultimately how we individually and collectively strive to come to terms with its ramifications: Grief, Joy, Ritual. Soloists Elizabeth & Philip Pooley, Choir and Orchestra de Cymru and some great new music we think you will enjoy.

Tickets for this much anticipated concert are £18 (£10 for those under 25) and can be purchased from:

  • Llandaff Cathedral shop
  • Garlands, Llandaff High Street
  • Ticketsource
  • Directly from choir members
