Description:	Composed in 3 weeks in 1741 to the libretto by Charles Jennens and first performed in Dublin in 1742 to great acclaim, Handel's Messiah remains one of the best-loved works in the choral canon. To attend a performance of the oratorio is regarded as a Christmas tradition by many music lovers.
